Lionel Messi

The football god, Messi has continued to shine over and over again for the past decade. The Argentine born star has proven to be a goal-scoring machine at Camp Nou most of the time single-handedly carrying the whole club past major tournaments. The Barcelona striker has managed to scoop various awards, one being recently where he claimed his 6th Ballon dOr title.  In terms of great rivalries in sport, it doesn’t get any better than Messi V Ronaldo!

For years now, Ronaldo has been an inspiration for many. During his time at Manchester United, football fans witnesses the teams success in winning several premier league titles and one Champions League. Cristiano then moved to Real Madrid where he earned several titles and also won himself his Ballon dOr. So far he has managed to scoop five Ballon dOr titles.

Virgil Van Dijk

Virgil was signed by Liverpool from Southampton for a fee of over £75m which is to date the world record fee for a defender.  Since his arrival at Liverpool, Van Dijk has brought with him a new dawn in the English team, he led Liverpool to the Champions League final where they won the title after defeating their English counterpart, Tottenham.  The  super defender was named the UEFAs player of the year for 2018-2019 and finished runner-up for the Ballon d’Or and The Best FIFA Men’s Player.  He has played for his country Holland since 2015 and captained the team in 2018/19.

Another top-tier football player in the world is Egyptian football star, Mohammed Salah. This is one player who delivers no matter the circumstances.  He signed for Liverpool for a then club-record fee of £36.9 million  His consistency in scoring goals has helped him earn international recognition and generally uplifted Liverpool as a team,  helping the team win the UEFA Champions League, while earned himself a Premier League Golden Boot after netting 32 goals in 36 league games.

This young star has broken so many records in his career so far. Since his arrival in the French league, the number seven Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward has proven to be unstoppable when it comes to scoring goals.
